Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 Processors
Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 processors (Broadwell) are two-socket server CPUs with 4 to 22 cores, four DDR4 memory channels and 40 PCIe 3.0 lanes, built for servers such as the Dell PowerEdge R630 and HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9. The range here runs from the 6-core E5-2603 v4 to the 22-core E5-2699 v4 and E5-2699A v4, including the 3.4GHz E5-2643 v4 and 3.2GHz E5-2667 v4. Each v4 processor is tested on arrival and retested before dispatch, and every one carries an Enterasource warranty.

The processor model sets the memory ceiling on this platform. HPE's ProLiant DL380 Gen9 QuickSpecs rate every v4 model at a maximum of DDR4-2400, 2133 or 1866, and note that the speed actually reached also depends on the number and type of DIMMs installed:

Moving a server from v3 to v4
Dell's PowerEdge R630 manual lists support for E5-2600 v3 or v4 processors, and HPE supports a field upgrade from v3 to v4 in the DL380 Gen9. HPE also states that v3 and v4 processors cannot be mixed in one server, so both sockets need v4 parts once you upgrade.
