- How do I find the right power supply for my server?
- Server power supplies are model-specific and must match both the wattage rating and physical connector of your server chassis. Dell PowerEdge servers use hot-swap power supplies that vary by generation and form factor — for example, a Dell R640 takes different power supplies than an R740xd. Provide your server model number when ordering and Enterasource will match the correct power supply. For redundant configurations, both PSUs must be the same wattage.
- What rack rails do I need for my Dell PowerEdge server?
- Dell PowerEdge rack servers use ReadyRails — toolless sliding rails that fit standard 4-post racks with square or round holes. Rail kits are specific to the server generation and form factor (1U or 2U). The same ReadyRails kit fits the entire generation within a form factor — for example, a single 1U rail kit fits R640, R440, and R340. Cable management arms are sold separately. Specify your server model and rack type (2-post or 4-post) when ordering.
- Can I replace a single fan in a server or do I need a full set?
- Most Dell PowerEdge and HPE ProLiant servers use individual hot-swap fan modules that can be replaced one at a time without powering down the server. Fans are numbered by position in the chassis and some positions use different fan assemblies. Provide your server model and the failed fan position number for an exact match. Enterasource stocks individual fan modules for all current server generations.
