Dell 1WVF2 PowerEdge R6525, R7525 and R7625 Serial Adapter Signal Cable
Enterasource supplies the Dell 1WVF2, the signal lead that connects a serial adapter to the system board of a PowerEdge R6525, R7525 or R7625.
This Is the Cable, Not the Adapter
A serial port on these platforms is an option rather than a fixture, and it arrives as two pieces: a small adapter that occupies a rear opening and provides the physical port, and a lead that carries the signal from it back to the board. The 1WVF2 is the second of those. If your machine has no serial adapter fitted, this cable will have nothing to connect to — the combined assembly, adapter and lead together, is a different Dell part number that we also list.
Why a Serial Port Still Matters
Serial console access remains the route in when a machine will not complete boot, when the network stack is misconfigured, or when out-of-band management itself needs recovering. It is the reason these adapters continue to be specified on servers that otherwise present no legacy ports at all.
Fitment and Length
Three platforms are named in our own inventory record for this part: R6525, R7525 and R7625. That is our record, not a Dell compatibility publication. Dell states no length for the lead, and we do not offer an estimate in place of one.
Important Notice: confirm whether you need the lead alone or the adapter and lead together before ordering. The two are not the same purchase.
