Dell Fan Backplane Board for PowerEdge R550, R750xs and R760xs: The Board the Fans Plug Into, Not the Board the Drives Plug Into
Enterasource is proud to present the Dell G8CRW, the fan backplane board recorded for the PowerEdge R550, R750xs and R760xs. The word "backplane" does a lot of work in server catalogues and here it means something specific, so it is worth being blunt about it up front.
Two Different Boards Share One Word
A drive backplane sits behind the front bays and carries storage signalling and power to hot-swap drives. A fan backplane sits under the fan bank and carries power and tachometer signalling to the hot-swap fans. They are unrelated boards in different parts of the chassis, and searching on "backplane" alone will return both. This part is the second kind. If your fault is a drive that will not enumerate, this board is not the repair; if it is a fan that reports missing or reports a wrong speed to the management controller, it may well be.
Fitment
Our inventory record names this board for the R550, R750xs and R760xs — three platforms from Dell's value-optimised 1U and 2U lines across two generations. That grouping comes from our own record, not from a Dell compatibility document. Our record does not state how many fan positions the board serves, and we make no claim about it.
Important Notice: board only; fans are separate parts. Checked prior to dispatch, with the Enterasource warranty as shown on this page.
