Dell VYWY0 PowerEdge R550, R750xs and R760xs Y-Split Fan Signal Cable
Enterasource supplies the Dell VYWY0, a Y-split signal cable serving fans in a PowerEdge R550, R750xs or R760xs. It carries control and reporting signals, not the current that turns the fans.
The Symptom That Separates Signal From Power
A fan the machine reports as absent or faulty while it is visibly turning has lost signalling, not supply. That single observation decides which of two cables to order at no cost at all, and it is worth making with the lid off before anything is bought. The reverse case — a fan the machine expects and that does not move at all — points at the feed instead, which travels on separate cabling under its own part number.
One Header, Two Fans
The Y split means a single connection at the board end serving a pair of fans at the other. That halves the number of headers a chassis needs and it also couples the two positions together: a fault in the shared leg of the Y takes both fans out of the machine's view at once, while a fault beyond the split affects only one. Two fans reported missing simultaneously is therefore a specific and useful clue.
Fitment and Length
Three platforms are named in our own inventory record and no Dell compatibility publication stands behind them. The record does not say which fan positions the assembly serves, and it gives no dimension; Dell publishes none.
Important Notice: replacing fans will not clear a fault that lies in this cable. Confirm whether the fans turn before deciding which part to order.
