HPE’s ProLiant server lineup follows a consistent naming convention: DL-series for rack (data-center rack) and ML-series for tower (machine room or office) deployments. The number indicates the chassis class — DL360 is 1U single-socket or compact 2-socket; DL380 is the flagship 2U 2-socket general-purpose platform. Gen10, Gen10 Plus, and Gen11 denote successive hardware generations with different processor families and memory standards.
HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 — 1U Compute-Dense Rack Server
The HPE DL360 Gen10 is a 1U 2-socket rack server supporting Intel Xeon Scalable processors (1st and 2nd Gen), up to 3TB DDR4 RDIMM across 24 DIMM slots, and up to 10 x 2.5" SFF drive bays with optional NVMe support. PCIe Gen 3 slots accommodate 25GbE or 10GbE HCAs and additional storage controllers. HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 — 2U General-Purpose Rack Server
The DL380 Gen10 is HPE’s highest-volume enterprise server. The 2U chassis accommodates up to two Intel Xeon Scalable processors, 24 DDR4 DIMM slots (up to 3TB), and flexible storage configurations — up to 24 x 2.5" SFF, 12 x 3.5" LFF, or mixed SFF/LFF configurations depending on the chassis variant. PCIe Gen 3 x16 and x8 slots support dual-port HCAs, additional NVMe controllers, and RAID expansion. The DL380 Gen10 is the default choice for database servers, virtualization hosts, and any workload that benefits from 2U storage or expansion capacity.
HPE SmartArray P816i-a and P408i-a RAID controllers are standard on Gen10 systems, providing hardware RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 with a battery-backed cache module. HPE’s Array Configuration Utility and Smart Storage Administrator are supported across Gen10 and later platforms.

HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen10 — Tower Server
The ML350 Gen10 is HPE’s 2-socket tower server for environments without rack infrastructure: branch offices, manufacturing floors, education, and remote site deployments. It runs the same Intel Xeon Scalable processor family as the DL380, with the same 24 DIMM slot memory configuration, and offers extensive internal drive bays for a tower form factor. iLO remote management is fully supported, giving operations teams visibility and console access even in remote locations.

HPE iLO (Integrated Lights-Out) is the remote management controller built into every ProLiant server. iLO enables full out-of-band console access via browser or command line, virtual media mounting for OS deployment, power cycle and reset controls, hardware health monitoring, and BIOS/firmware update capabilities. iLO Advanced licensing adds KVM-over-IP, Directory/Kerberos authentication, and enhanced reporting. All Enterasource HPE servers are configured with iLO network settings and default credentials reset before shipping.
