1G SFP Transceivers (1000BASE-SX, LX, T)
1G SFP transceivers for gigabit Ethernet ports: 1000BASE-SX for 850 nm multimode fiber, 1000BASE-LX/LH for 1310 nm single-mode, and 1000BASE-T copper modules with an RJ45 jack. Most of the listing is Juniper and Cisco coded (EX-SFP-1GE-SX, SFP-1GE-T-C, GLC-SX-MM, GLC-T, GLC-LH-SM), with HPE, Dell, Finisar, Foundry and FS modules. Modules are tested twice, coming in and going out.

SX, LX or T
The three types differ in medium and distance, so start from the cable already in place. Cisco's gigabit SFP data sheet gives these figures for its own modules:

Cisco requires an IEEE mode-conditioning patch cord whenever an LX/LH module runs over multimode fiber, whatever the span length.
Coding and where they fit
Buy the coding that matches the switch or NIC, because platforms such as Cisco's check it; the Juniper modules here use Juniper part numbers such as 740-011613 and 740-031851, and the Cisco ones Cisco's GLC numbers. Juniper-coded optics suit the Juniper switches we sell, Cisco-coded ones the Cisco switches, and the RJ45 copper modules put a twisted-pair connection on an SFP port.
