Dell Cooling Fan Cage for PowerEdge R760, R7615 and R7625: Where Intel and AMD Platforms Do Share a Part
Enterasource is proud to present the Dell CNYJ3, the cooling fan cage recorded for the PowerEdge R760, R7615 and R7625. The interesting thing about that list is that it crosses a boundary most thermal parts do not.
Mechanical Parts Cross the Silicon Line. Thermal Interface Parts Do Not
The R760 is Intel-based; the R7615 and R7625 are AMD. Their processor heatsinks are separate part numbers and cannot be swapped, because the processor packages differ in size and mounting. The fan cage is a different kind of component — it holds fan modules in a chassis of fixed width and presents them to their connectors, and none of that changes with the processor underneath. So one cage serves all three. It is a useful reminder that "same generation, different silicon" does not predict fitment on its own: it depends entirely on which part you are asking about.
Fitment
Our inventory record names this cage for those three platforms. That is our own record and not a Dell compatibility document. Our record does not state how many fan positions the cage carries, and the cage does not include fans.
Important Notice: cage only. A cage with a damaged latch or a distorted frame will let a fan sit proud of its connector and report as missing — worth inspecting when chasing an intermittent fan fault. Examined before it ships under the Enterasource warranty shown here.
