Description

Short-depth telecommunications cabinets are what the HPE ProLiant DL110 Gen10 Plus was built for, and the shape of the server follows from that. It is a single-socket 1U machine with a front-cabled chassis and no drive-cage variants at all, so there is no chassis decision to make on it. Everything else about the platform is unusual for a rack server.

Memory is the clearest example: eight DIMM slots sit on eight channels at one module per channel, half the slot count of a standard-depth 1U ProLiant and twice the per-channel efficiency. Storage is measured in M.2 rather than in drive bays, and power is offered in a direct-current form as a first-class option. The result makes little sense in a data-centre rack and a great deal of sense at the edge of a network.

DL110 Gen10 Plus chassis: one configuration, and no drive-cage decision to make

HPE lists exactly one chassis type for the DL110 Gen10 Plus, a front-cabled chassis, and that is the whole matrix. There are no small-form-factor or large-form-factor variants, no mid tray and no rear cage options, which removes the decision that dominates every other Gen10 Plus server. Internal storage is documented as SATA M.2 to 3.84 TB across four 960 GB modules, and no drives are included with a CTO chassis.

Boot and storage are handled by two parts rather than by a controller family. Intel Virtual RAID on CPU Premium, R7J57A, is the software licence for the embedded SATA path, and the NS204i-p, P12965-B21, is a two-lane NVMe boot device on a PCIe card. No Smart Array modular controller appears in this document, which is a useful negative: a DL110 Gen10 Plus listed with a P408i-a is being described with parts from a different platform.

Processors and memory on the DL110 Gen10 Plus: eight slots, one per channel

The DL110 Gen10 Plus takes one 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor and carries eight DIMM slots across eight channels at one module per channel. Maximum capacity is 1.0 TB with eight 128 GB load-reduced modules at 3200 MT/s, or 512 GB with eight 64 GB registered modules. HPE states directly that mixing registered and load-reduced memory is not supported.

The processor list is the telecommunications subset of the 3rd generation ladder, and the network-optimised N and thermal-optimised T parts are the ones that matter. Twelve kits are offered, including the Gold 6338N P37603-B21 at 32 cores and 185 W, the 6330N P37604-B21 at 28 cores and 165 W, the 6338T P37607-B21 at 24 cores and 165 W, the 5320T P37608-B21 at 20 cores and 150 W, and the 5318N P37605-B21 at 24 cores and 150 W.

Expansion and power on the DL110 Gen10 Plus, and the part numbers this page will not invent

Three PCIe 4.0 slots are documented, all sixteen lanes wide and all full-height half-length: slots one and two on the primary riser, which ships standard, and slot three on a secondary riser. Two riser kits are named, P41827-B21 and P41828-B21. Accelerator support is the telecommunications kind rather than the general-compute kind - the Intel ACC100 vRAN Dedicated Accelerator R8G90C, which offloads radio access network signal processing, and the NVIDIA T4 16 GB R0W29C.

Power is where this page stops short of a full parts list, and the reason is worth stating. Our extraction of a50002566enw records the power supply section as partial: the document describes the supplies without listing orderable part numbers. The wattages and types recorded in our lineup census are a 700 W Platinum alternating-current supply, a 700 W direct-current supply and a 900 W to 1000 W Titanium alternating-current supply. Those are stated here; the part numbers are not, because we do not hold them from a primary source.

Where the DL110 Gen10 Plus sits in the ProLiant lifecycle

The DL110 Gen10 Plus is marked RETIRED in HPE's QuickSpecs banner, meaning the base products are no longer available for sale from HPE. The document identifier is a50002566enw, first published on 26 April 2021 and last revised at version 18 on 16 September 2024. The first-published date is verified from the document's own summary-of-changes history rather than inferred from anything else.

Eighteen revisions is a moderate maintenance profile, well below the forty-plus HPE gave the mainstream DL360 and DL380 Gen10 Plus, and consistent with a specialised platform serving a narrower installed base. HPE publishes no support-end date for this platform on any public surface, so none appears here.

DL110 Gen10 Plus vs DL360 Gen10 Plus

The DL110 Gen10 Plus and the DL360 Gen10 Plus are both 1U servers on the same processor generation, built for opposite environments. The DL110 is short-depth, single-socket and front-cabled with no drive bays; the DL360 is full-depth, dual-socket and carries eight or four front bays. The comparison a buyer needs is which constraint each one removes.

Read the memory row first. A DL110 Gen10 Plus caps at 1.0 TB where a DL360 Gen10 Plus reaches 8.0 TB, so any memory-bound workload belongs on the standard-depth machine regardless of where the rack is. What the DL110 offers instead is three full sixteen-lane PCIe slots from a single socket, where the DL360 needs two processors to reach three slots at all.

The DL110 Gen10 Plus is the specialised member of that line and is chosen for its cabinet rather than for its specification. Two live comparisons in our catalogue sit a generation below and at standard depth: the 1U DL360 Gen10 and the 2U DL380 Gen10, both with far deeper secondary-market supply than any short-depth platform.

Buying a refurbished DL110 Gen10 Plus

Three things are worth settling before a quote is accepted. The processor, because the network-optimised and thermal-optimised parts are what make this platform what it is, and a general-purpose Gold in the socket removes most of the reason to buy one. The power supply type, because a unit built for a direct-current cabinet is not usable in an alternating-current rack without replacing the supply. And the accelerator, because the Intel ACC100 is a dedicated radio access network part with no general-compute use.

Out-of-band management is HPE Integrated Lights-Out, and the advanced tier is licensed per server against an order rather than being a property of the chassis, so it belongs on a quote as a line item. Enterasource builds each DL110 Gen10 Plus to the specification ordered, testing on receipt, then disassembling, cleaning, inventorying, picking, assembling, configuring and testing again on the bench. Whole systems including this server carry the 2-year Enterasource warranty, and shipping is free to the lower 48 states. Frequently Asked Questions

What are the HPE ProLiant DL110 Gen10 Plus specifications?

One socket for a 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor, eight DDR4 DIMM slots across eight channels at one module per channel, a maximum of 1.0 TB with load-reduced modules or 512 GB with registered modules at 3200 MT/s, a short-depth front-cabled chassis with no drive bays, up to 3.84 TB of internal SATA M.2 storage, and three PCIe 4.0 slots at sixteen lanes each.

What chassis options does the DL110 Gen10 Plus come in?

One. HPE documents a single front-cabled chassis type for this platform, with no small-form-factor or large-form-factor variants, no mid tray and no rear drive cage. That removes the chassis decision entirely, which is the opposite of every other server in the Gen10 Plus line, where the front end is the first and least reversible choice a buyer makes.

How much memory does the DL110 Gen10 Plus support?

Up to 1.0 TB, as eight 128 GB load-reduced modules at 3200 MT/s. With registered modules the ceiling is 512 GB from eight 64 GB modules. The platform runs eight channels at one module per channel rather than two, so every slot sits on its own channel. HPE states that mixing registered and load-reduced memory is not supported on this server.

What accelerators does the DL110 Gen10 Plus support?

Two are listed in the QuickSpecs: the Intel ACC100 vRAN Dedicated Accelerator, R8G90C, which offloads radio access network signal processing, and the NVIDIA T4 16 GB computational accelerator, R0W29C. Both sit in the three full-height half-length PCIe 4.0 slots the platform provides, all sixteen lanes wide and all available from the single processor socket.

Where do I find the DL110 Gen10 Plus QuickSpecs, and is the platform still sold?

The document identifier is a50002566enw, first published on 26 April 2021 and last revised at version 18 on 16 September 2024. HPE marks its banner as retired, meaning the base products are no longer available for sale from HPE. Short-depth telecommunications platforms have thinner secondary-market supply than mainstream rack servers, so availability is quoted rather than listed.
