AMD EPYC 7352 24-Core Processor | Dell-Locked (Platform Secure Boot): Buy This for a Dell Server, and Only for a Dell Server
Enterasource lists this AMD EPYC 7352 as a Dell-locked processor, and that is the first thing to understand about it. AMD EPYC processors ship from the factory vendor-neutral, but an OEM can enable Platform Secure Boot, which blows one-time fuses inside the processor. Dell's own support documentation states the consequence plainly: "Enabling PSB will permanently fuse the CPU to only work on Dell platforms." Permanent means permanent — the fusing cannot be undone, and a fused part will not boot a Supermicro, HPE or whitebox EPYC board.
What AMD Specifies for the 7352
AMD publishes the EPYC 7352 as a 24-core, 48-thread Socket SP3 processor with a 2.3 GHz base clock and boost up to 3.2 GHz, 128 MB of L3 cache and a 155 W default TDP. It carries eight DDR4 memory channels rated to 3200 MT/s for 204.8 GB/s of per-socket memory bandwidth, and 128 lanes of PCIe 4.0. It is qualified for both single-socket and dual-socket configurations.
Who This Part Suits
Twenty-four cores at 155 W with eight memory channels is a balanced virtualisation and general-purpose profile rather than a frequency-optimised one. If you are populating a Dell PowerEdge on the AMD EPYC 7002 generation and you want core count and memory bandwidth per watt rather than peak single-thread speed, this is the shape of part that fits. If you are building on a non-Dell board, buy a vendor-neutral EPYC instead.
Important Notice: treat this processor as bound to Dell platforms. It ships without a heatsink, and Socket SP3 heatsinks are platform-specific — order the heatsink for your chassis, not a generic SP3 cooler.
